INGREDIENTS: (SERVES 2)

  • BASIL LEAVES / TULSI – 5 TO 10 LEAVES
  • TURMERIC POWDER / HALDI – 1 PINCH
  • BLACK PEPPERCORNS (OR POWDER) / KALI MIRCH – 10 TO 15 / 1 TEASPOON
  • GINGER / ADRAK – 1 TEASPOON (GRATED)
  • HONEY / MADHU – 1 TEASPOON
  • CLOVES / LAUNG – 6
  • WATER – 300 ml

RECIPE

  • Add hot water in a pan.
  • Crush ginger, cloves, black peppercorns in a mortar and pestle.
  • Add all the crushed ingredients along with basil leaves and turmeric powder to the pan. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes or till the decoction is reduced to half.
  • Strain the mixture and add honey to it, drink while it is still lukewarm.

2. FEVER FIGHTER DRINK

INGREDIENTS: (SERVES 2)

  • LEMONGRASS – 50 GMS (FINELY CHOPPED STALKS)
  • GINGER / ADRAK – 1 TABLESPOON (GRATED)
  • CINNAMON STICKS OR POWDER / DALCHEENI – 2 STICKS(SMALL) / 1 TEASPOON
  • INDIAN GINSENG / ASHWAGANDHA LEAVES OR POWDER – 1 TEASPOON
  • BASIL / TULSI LEAVES – 10-15
  • GILOY / GUDUCHI – HALF INCH
  • SWERTIA CHIRATA / CHIRAYATA – 1 TEASPOON
  • WATER – 350 ML

RECIPE

  • To begin with, add hot water in a pan.
  • Crush and grate all the ingredients and add them to the water.

  • Cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes or till the decoction is reduced to half.
  • Strain the mixture and gulp it slowly.

  • BASIL LEAVES / TULSI – 10-15 LEAVES
  • GILOY – HALF INCH
  • LEMONGRASS STALKS – 15 GMS
  • MINT LEAVES / PUDINA – 10-15 LEAVES
  • ASHWAGANDHA POWDER – 1 TEASPOON
  • SHIGRU / MORINGA LEAF POWDER – 2 TEASPOON
  • CAROM SEEDS OR LEAVES / AJWAIN – 1 TEASPOON
  • GINGER / ADRAK – 1 TEASPOON (GRATED)
  • BLACK PEPPERCORN POWDER / KALI MIRCH – 5-10 / 1TEASPOON
  • SWERTIA CHIRATA – 1 TEASPOON
  • CLOVES / LONG – 5-7
  • CINNAMON STICKS / DALCHEENI – 2 STICKS (SMALL)
  • WATER – 400 ML

RECIPE

  1. To begin making kadha, add hot water in a pan.
  2. Crush all the dry ingredients in a mortar and pestle.
  3. Add all the crushed ingredients along with the rest of the remaining herbs to the pan. Cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes or till the decoction is reduced to half.
  4. Strain the mixture and consume it lukewarm.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Do not consume more than 100 ml at a time.
  • Adding too much ginger or black pepper can cause heartburn.
  • Drink it warm for maximum benefits.
  • Do not let the prepared drink sit for more than 30 minutes.
  • It can cause nausea if consumed during fasting.
  • It is usually a little bitter to taste.
